Known Issues

On some computers, printing a TIFF file from Preview may result in output that is reversed in mirror-like fashion.:

Accordding to Apple, a TIFF file printed from Preview may print out in a reversed, mirror-like image. This effect may be horizontal or vertical. You may also see 90-degree rotation. TIFF files print from other applications as expected.

Products affected
o Mac OS X 10.2 to 10.2.1
o Preview

This is resolved by updating to Mac OS X 10.2.2 or later.
If you cannot update immediately, you may open and print the TIFF file with Adobe Acrobat Reader, or another TIFF-compatible application. Alternatively, you may convert the TIFF file to another format.

Problem with connecting to a answerphone/fax machine.

This issue is actually a limitation of the Apple Internal Modem. This timing issue occurs with Macs of 800 MHz or less with Apple Internal Modems installed. We have confirmed this with Apple, but we have no information if a fix is forthcoming. So you may have difficulty sending to machines that are expecting to hear a fax tone before they emit any of their own.

I can't send, and in the log I see:

/usr/bin/fax: make: command not found
/usr/bin/fax: dirname:command not found
/usr/bin/fax: basename: command not found

The first line about make is nothing to worry about, but the other two are issues. This means that you didn't install the BSD Subsystem, a custom OS X install was performed, leaving out this optional component. Unfortunately the BSD subsystem is required for proper sending of faxes. If you are running 10.2, you should be able to pop in your CD, and do a custom install while just selecting the BSD Subsystem component. If you are running 10.1.5, you either have to upgrade to 10.2, or reinstall 10.1.

Only 1/2 or 1/4 a page is sent

Sometimes a fax is sent from your computer and only 1/4 or 1.2 of the fax is received. There are two issues at stake here:

1) You need to change your flow control settings. Check the log to see if you get a message about flow control (Error flow control...) This is something that only the end user can correct by changeing the flow control settings in the preferences.
